Jiving - Modern Jive / Rock 'n' Roll

Modern Jive is a modern style of Jive created in the 70’s which became highly popular in the 1980s.

It was the French who continued to ‘rock’ following the 50’s Rock ‘n’ Roll era but simplified the dance to make it more accessible and flexible.

Modern Jive is now an arm-led partner dance with basic footwork.

Modern Jive have kept on adapting to fit new music trends and sounds and now it can be danced to virtually any music (from the early 60s to current chart hits).

This ever popular and versatile dance is perfect for any occasion – from Christmas parties to weddings.

Jive Dance® delivers our own distinctive style of Modern Jive which we call ‘Roc la style’.

Modern Jive is fun, exciting with its effortless footwork and diverse dance moves. Join us to discover the joy of social dancing and boogie to your favourite tunes.

Rock ‘n’ Roll is a form of popular music that evolved in the 1950's from rhythm and blues. It all started in the USA and exploded across Europe and beyond.

The dance itself was inspired by dancers performing on Bill Haley’s ‘Rock around the Clock’.

Rock ‘n’ Roll is exciting and energetic. However, it also has its ‘cool and chill’ moments when everyone join in and ‘stroll’.

The Strolls are still done today at genuine Rock ‘n’ Roll dances where individual style and attitude stands out.

Rock ‘n’ Roll dancing is all about dancing to how you feel about the music!
